Interweave hat

The pattern is composed of a big central motif and 2 smaller motifs on the sides. If you want a set, you can knit the Interweave cowl also.
Use these instructions if you need to do 3 repeats of the pattern in height
Cast-on a multiple of 16 stitches
I have cast-on 64 stitches + 1 stitch for joining the round (so I did 4 repeats of the pattern)
The instructions below are for 1 repeat of the pattern in width
Round 1: [k1, sl1yo] 8 times
Round 2, 4, 6… 92 (all even rounds): [sl1yo, brp1] 8 times/12 times
Round 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 21, 25, 29, 33, 37, 41, 45, 49, 53, 57, 61, 65, 69, 73, 77, 81, 85, 89: [brk1, sl1yo] 8 times/12 times
Round 19: brkyobrk, sl1yo, [brk1, sl1yo] 2 times, brkyobrk, sl1yo, brkyobrk, sl1yo, [brk1, sl1yo] 2 times, brkyobrk, sl1yo
Round 23, 39, 55: brRsl, sl1yo, brkyobrk, sl1yo, [brk1, sl1yo] 2 times, brkyobrk, sl1yo, brLsl, sl1yo, brk1, sl1yo, brkyobrk, sl1yo, brLsl, sl1yo
Round 27, 43, 59: [brk1, sl1yo] 6 times, brkyobrk, sl1yo, brLsl, sl1yo, [brk1, sl1yo] 3 times
Round 31, 47, 63: brRsl, sl1yo, brkyobrk, sl1yo, brk1, sl1yo, brRsl, sl1yo, brkyobrk, sl1yo, [brk1, sl1yo] 2 times, brkyobrk, sl1yo, brLsl, sl1yo
Round 35, 51, 67: [brk1, sl1yo] 3 times, brRsl, sl1yo, brkyobrk, sl1yo, [brk1, sl1yo] 6 times
Round 71: brRsl, sl1yo, [brk1, sl1yo] 3 times, brkyobrk, sl1yo, brLsl, sl1yo, [brk1, sl1yo] 2 times, brLsl, sl1yo
Round 75: brRsl, sl1yo, [brk1, sl1yo] 3 times, brkyobrk, sl1yo, brLsl, sl1yo, brLsl, sl1yo
Round 79: brRsl, sl1yo, brRsl, sl1yo, brkyobrk, sl1yo, brk1, sl1yo, brLsl, sl1yo
Round 83: brRsl, sl1yo, [brk1, sl1yo] 2 times, brLsl, sl1yo
Round 87: brRsl, sl1yo, brLsl, sl1yo
Round 91: brRsl, sl1yo
P.S.: If you knit 2 repeats of the pattern in height, you get a normal beanie hat, if you knit 4 repeats of the pattern in height, you get a slouchy beanie, but if you knit 3 repeats, you get "something in between" the two (see the mug shots below :). So depending on the result that you want to obtain, you have to decide how many times you will repeat rounds 23-38.
And don't forget that brioche stitch is reversible:
Abbreviations:
 k - knit
brk - brioche knit
brp - brioche purl
sl1yo - slip 1 with yarn over needle
sl1 wyib - slip 1 purlwise with yarn in back
sl1 wyif - slip 1 purlwise with yarn in front
brkyobrk - brioche knit, yarn over, brioche knit (that in the next row will be knitted as sl1yo, p1, sl1yo)
brLsl - brioche left slant decrease
brRsl - brioche right slant decrease

I love this! I would like to make it for my daughter. Can you please tell me what size yarn and what amount you used? Also, gauge and needle size? Nancy, knitnglo on Rav

Hey happy knitter

I used your pattern, for my first 2 colored brioche project - a cowl, by following your video, and reading the chart at the same time - by the 3 repeat of the pattern, I could knit by my self.

Thank you so much!
I'm hooked on brioche knitting now!
Kind regards Sif (siforama on rev.)

Thank you very much!!!! It means a lot to me that I helped someone learn and love brioche!!! Looked you up on Ravelry, I was curious to see this cowl, but you didn't post it. Anyway, I'm happy that you decided to use my pattern!!!
